Cape Town University Theatre Upgrades to Philips Strand Lighting Dimming
Cape Town University's The Baxter Theatre has invested in 10 Philips Strand Lighting Wallrack Dimmer units as part of a major upgrade to its lighting facilities. Dedicated to producing the very best in both established and new theatrical works, Goodspeed Musicals recently debuted The Great American Mousical, a whimsical, musical comedy that celebrates life in the theatre, directed by Julie Andrews. Performing inside the Norma Terris Theatre, the production team was challenged to bring the excitement and spectacle of Broadway and the magic of New York City into a compact 200-seat venue. Established in 1972, The Baldy View Regional Occupational Program (BVROP) provides career technical education to high school students who are interested in improving their preparation for higher education and the workforce. Working with the Upland Unified School District, the BVROP utilizes the Highlander Auditorium as a primary teaching location with Technical Director Bill Cox leading the instruction. New Channel 5 Studio invests in Philips Strand Lighting dimming and control
Channel 5 has chosen to specify Philips Strand Lighting eS21 Dimmers, a Palette VL Console, a 301 Backup along with a number of Philips Selecon luminaires to satisfy the lighting requirements of its new suite of compact studios within London’s Northern and Shell Building. The brief for the new suite was to create a multipurpose studio complex suitable for C5 News, which uses Virtual Reality to generate the on air environment, ready to broadcast from mid-November.

Since its opening in 2002, the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts has been one of the leading performance venues serving the Dallas/Fort Worth area, heralded not only for the performances inside, but also for the facility itself. As the home of such groups as the Richardson Symphony Orchestra, the Collin County Ballet Theatre, and Pegasus Theatre, the Eisemann Center operates year-round and Master Electrician Carolyn Lloyd must keep the lighting rig up-to-date with the latest technologies. The Philips Selecon SPX Zoomspot Profile has made a splash on the catwalk for Africa Fashion International (AFI) Fashion Week. Johannesburg-based Dream Sets provided the technical direction and lighting equipment, which included a large contingent of Selecon SPX Zoomspot luminaires. Lighting designer Mauritz Jacobs specified the luminaires because of the accuracy with which they control light distribution, the well-defined beam and because there is never any unwanted light spill.

A World of Color at the Festival of Independent Theatres
The City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) is a division within the City Manager’s office which creates opportunities for local artists and cultural organizations to showcase their talents. One of the performance venues supported by the OCA, the Bath House Cultural Center (BHCC), hosts an annual one-act play festival called the Festival of Independent Theatres (FIT), a four-week festival comprised of small theatre companies producing seldom seen, new, or avant-garde works. Alabama School of Fine Arts Theatrical Lighting Project
In April 2012, the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham raised the curtain on a new, 500-seat theater. Named after a beloved member of the ASFA Foundation, the Dorothy Jemison Day Theater is a versatile proscenium venue that can accommodate stage plays, dance recital, and orchestral and vocal performances. Behind-the-scenes, the theater serves as a state-of-the-art teaching facility for ASFA students, where they learn about all aspects of the performing arts.
